Samsung may increase prices of ISOCELL camera sensors: How this can affect smartphone makers
Samsung’s System LSI division is the second-largest mobile camera sensor maker in the world. Camera sensors produced by the company are used in several smartphones, including Samsung’s own Galaxy devices. The South Korean tech giant is reportedly planning to increase the prices of its ISOCELL camera sensors as it looks to expand its market share to compete with Sony.
According to a report by a Chinese publication Money.Udn, the prices of Samsung’s CIS (Camera Image Sensors) are expected to increase by 25% on average in 2024. The report also claims that some camera sensors may also see price hikes of 30% or more. As per the report, the increase in the prices of the camera sensors could be related to increased prices of camera components.
