Samsung gets go-ahead for BP/ECG readings on smartwatches

After having the feature for years, Samsung has finally got approval to enable blood pressure measurement and ECG readings on its smartwatches, a move market trackers say will help the Korean major corner market-share in the premium wearables segment and help clear existing inventory.

Enabling the feature also brings Samsung smartwatches at par with the Apple Watch in terms of health monitoring. The iPhone-maker had received regulatory approval for ECG and irregular heart rhythm notification in 2019, and has been available for Indian users ever since.
