Samsung and Reliance Jio to hold a joint event at MWC 2017 on February 28: Report

South Korean tech giant Samsung and Mukesh Ambani-run Reliance Jio are set to host a joint event at MWC 2017 on February 28, according to reports. The event will be held at 1.15 PM where Jio can be expected to market itself for international business and tie-ups.

The event will be hosted by Youngky Kim, President Head of Networks Business at Samsung and President of Reliance Jio, Jyotindra Thacker.

The joint event will focus on “fostering engagement and participation among industry leaders, governments, and communities, by discussing Jio’s successful 4G LTE business and how it has transformed the everyday lives of 1.3 billion Indians.”

Also, there’s speculation that Jio might announce its international expansion plans at the event. The invite sent for the joint press conference says that Reliance Jio will share the contributions made by Samsung as a solutions partner for the operator.

The invite also says “We hope for this to benefit participants in understanding how we have and will make impacts at local and international levels for the growth of the industry.”

Reliance Jio will make appearance for the first time at MWC where Samsung is expected to launch Galaxy Tab S3. A Galaxy S8 smartphone video teaser is also expected at the event.
