Relief for e-commerce firms as Maharashtra extends Covid-19 test deadline for workers
The Maharashtra government extended the deadline for workers to procure negative Covid-19 test certificates by five days to April 15, giving relief to e-commerce companies because a large portion of their workforce had not received reports after getting tested.
Any person who has conducted a reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) test before April 10 and has a receipt for it will be allowed to work until April 15 even if the report hasn’t been received, the Maharashtra government said in an order dated April 9 to all collectors and municipal commissioners in the state.
“It is understood that due to the load on the RT-PCR testing infrastructure in the state, the reports of the tests for many people will not be available to them by April 10,” the state government said in the order, a copy of which ET has reviewed.
