Reliance testing sound box for online payments: Report

NEW DELHI: Oil-to-telecoms conglomerate Reliance Industries Limited (RIL) is testing a sound box for online payments in some of its stores at its campus, TechCrunch reported, citing a person familiar with the matter.

The device uses Jio Pay as the “reconciler”, according to the report. RIL has traditionally internally tested new offerings among its staff before announcing a public launch. But it is not yet clear, how soon, if at all, the sound box will be unveiled, the report added.

It is to be noted that Paytm popularised the innovative sound box, which is designed to instantly validate and announce successful payments to merchants.
