Reliance Jio’s 4Q ARPU showed minimal impact of tariff hike: Analysts
Kolkata: Reliance Jio Infocomm’s fourth-quarter average revenue per user (ARPU), which grew 2% sequentially, was below expectations and scarcely showed any impact of the tariff hikes the telecom market leader took last December, according to analysts.
They, however, pointed out that Jio’s strong net subscriber addition — 17.5 million in the fourth quarter — despite the tariff hike was an early indication that consumers had taken the price hike in their stride. This has allayed concerns over the sustainability of the higher tariffs, they said, while also taking comfort form the management’s message that the benefit of the price hike would reflect on the ARPU in the coming quarters as more subscribers move to the new rates.
