Reliance JioPhone users will now have to pay more for the base plan
The JioPhone was launched with the base plan of Rs 49 to help people using 2G phones to migrate to a 4G handset with access to internet. However, with the recent hike in tariffs, Reliance Jio has scrapped the Rs 49 base plan which offered 1GB of 4GB data, free Jio to Jio calls and 50 SMSes with a validity of 28 days.
JioPhone users will now have to spend at least Rs 75 to stay connected. The Rs 75 base plan offers 3GB of 4G data and offers 28 days validity. However, there is a cap of 100MB for high speed data daily after which the speed comes down to 64Kbps. There is free Jio to Jio calls and 500 minutes free for Jio to other network calls. Also, subscribers will get 50 SMSes during the validity period.
Meanwhile, Reliance Jio has re-introduced two of its old prepaid plans. at Rs 98 and Rs 149 respectively. Reliance Jio’s Rs 98 has a validity of 28 days, on the other hand, the Rs 149 plan comes with a validity of 24 days. While the Rs 98 plan comes with same data and validity as it offered before, the company has reduced the data with Rs 149 plan.
