Reliance Jio seeing demand for 5G FWA from rural markets; expects revenue from managed services
NEW DELHI: Reliance Jio is seeing demand for its 5G fixed wireless service, JioAirFiber, coming from tier-3, tier-4 and rural markets, according to a senior executive of the telecom operator. At the same time, Jio is entering the managed services segment which could potentially contribute additional service revenues.
“You could argue that the big cities were reasonably well served through our optical fiber network. But as soon as JioAirFiber got launched, we are seeing demand getting unlocked from the tier 3 or tier 4 four towns and rural markets, where this is a completely unique service,” Kiran Thomas, President of Reliance Jio Infocomm said at Reliance Industries Limited (RIL)’s Q3FY24 post-earnings call.
