Reliance Jio replaces Vodafone as Gujarat govt’s official mobile service provider

Replacing Vodafone Idea, the Gujarat government has selected Akash Ambani-led Reliance Jio Infocomm as the new service provider for the mobile phones for all government dignitaries and officials.

Vodafone is being replaced by the government after 12 years. The bid for selecting a new service provider was floated well before the December 2022 Assembly elections.

A resolution issued by the general administration department on May 6 stated, “Gujarat Informatics Ltd had published a bid for fixing rates of postpaid mobile phone service for government dignitaries and officials on behalf of the General Administration Department, dated November 3, 2022.
