Reliance Jio announces tariff hikes in pre-paid segment
Reliance Jio on Sunday announced tariff hikes in the pre-paid segment of up to 21 per cent, after rivals Bharti Airtel and Vodafone announced hikes last week. The revised structure will be effective from December 1.
Bharti Airtel had raised pre-paid rates by 20-25 per cent which came into effect from November 26. After this move by the Sunil Mittal-led company, Vodafone Idea jacked up pre-paid tariffs by 18-25 per cent.
The higher tariffs is expected to improve the average revenue per user (ARPU) of the three operators which will be reflected fully during the January-March 2022 quarter. The pre-paid segment accounts for a significant share of the wireless revenues.
