Qualcomm backs combination of 5G bands for maximum impact in India
Maui (Hawaii): Qualcomm Inc, the world’s biggest supplier of mobile phone chips, has made a strong pitch for early availability of a combination of 5G spectrum bands in India, including millimetre wave, mid-band and sub-6 airwave categories to maximise the impact of upcoming 5G deployments in the country.
“We firmly believe India needs a combination of all three spectrum band categories for 5G as it’s important to have a blend of capacity and coverage spectrum to unlock the full potential of this ultra-fast mobile broadband technology,” Durga Malladi, senior vice president & GM (4G & 5G) at the US chip maker’s R&D arm, Qualcomm Technologies Inc, told ET.
