Prolonged device upgrades threaten cyber-security: Study
New Delhi: Besides remote working, businesses are facing cybersecurity risk due to ageing and obsolete on-premise assets, due to longer upgrade cycles as companies adopt cloud-based technology architecture.
According to a study by cloud and data centre firm NTT India, titled ‘2020 Global Insights Report’, 46.3% of organizations’ assets are ageing or obsolete, compared with 4.3% in 2017, with technology, manufacturing, and automotive industries having the highest percentages of such devices.
“There has been an increase in obsolete and unpatched network devices containing software vulnerabilities, introducing risk, and exposing the organization to information security threats,” the company said in a press release.
