Producer loses Rs 23 lakh to duo over OTT scam, complaint filed
MUMBAI: Two persons allegedly posed as employees of an online streaming platform and duped a Bollywood producer of Rs 23 lakh after promising to release his movie on the OTT (over-the-top) platform.
Amboli police registered a case on Wednesday against the two men identified as Ajay Kanojiya and Abhay Shankar.
Bollywood producer Vijay Mulchandani’s lawyer, Ali Kaashif Khan, said, “My client unfortunately came in contact with two individuals in 2022 who impersonated themselves as employees of an OTT platform. Money in parts totalling Rs 23 lakh was taken from my client by falsely promising him to sell his movie ‘The Miraj’ to the OTT.”
