Privacy policy update: 79% individuals reconsidering the use of WhatsApp, says study
NEW DELHI: Amidst the raging controversy over the recently updated WhatsApp privacy policy, an overwhelming 79% of surveyed users said they are reconsidering using WhatsApp while 28% said they will leave WhatsApp after the implementation of the new policy in May 2021, a study said on Friday.
The study by Gurgaon-based Cybermedia Research (CMR) also found that Telegram has emerged as the top pick of users for instant messaging with 41% of users indicating they will shift to the privacy-focused app, whereas 35% preferred Signal.
Telegram also scores over Signal in terms of user awareness (55%) and actual usage (35%.
