Pricing, bundling key to India 5G adoption: Experts
MUMBAI: Competitive pricing, including attractive bundling of value-added services, backed by strong network quality is key to driving adoption of 5G services, say industry executives and experts. They added that experiences from markets like the US, South Korea and China may offer India’s telcos a template, but they need to factor in the fact that the South Asian nation is a far more price sensitive market with over 300 million still on featurephones.
Fitch Ratings, in a report, said that most of the current applications in India are served by 4G speeds. “Device ecosystem also needs to rapidly evolve for higher 5G adoption in the price-sensitive Indian market, given low penetration of 5G devices of below 5%.”
