Premium TVs hold fort for Sony India; volume drop may continue
KOLKATA: Japanese electronics maker Sony India’s television sales by units have fallen this fiscal with consumers choosing not to rush into buying new sets, even though the company has managed to hold on to its revenue due to its premium television sales continuing to grow, managing director Sunil Nayyar said.
The country’s third largest television maker expects a similar trend — drop in volume and growth in value — to continue during the second half of the fiscal led by festival sales which will lead to a marginal growth in overall revenue for Sony India this fiscal. Sony is also planning to reduce television prices before the festive season to revive demand.
