Premium smartphones with next generation AI capabilities to cost more: Report

New Delhi: Premium smartphones with next-generation AI capabilities may cost more due to the components required to leverage the use of multi-modal generative AI models, according to a new report.

Devices are expected to pack more RAM, sport more powerful processors, and include better screens and cameras, as AI is set to be the focal marketing messages in the upcoming launches, according to a report from International Data Corporation (IDC).

The research firm anticipates a minimum of 16GB RAM, and processors with neural processing units capable of running on-device large language models to power the next-generation smartphones.
