Prasar Bharati seeks radio rights for IPL commentary
NEW DELHI: As the Indian Premier League stands postponed till 15 April with the scare and spread of CONVID-19 intensifying, national broadcaster Prasar Bharati has written to Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) asking for rights to have radio commentary of the cricket matches.
“IPL is not part of the current MoU between BCCI and Prasar Bharati, but we are keen that that the BCCI expands the scope of the agreement, which right now is limited to home matches of the Indian Cricket team and certain domestic tournaments. It started from last year,” Prasar Bharati CEO Shashi Shekhar Vempati told ET.
Prasar Bharati had requested BCCI last year too, to include IPL in the list, but since the body itself was going through re-structuring the proposal never took off.
