Post on PM, RSS: What caused Facebook oversight body to reverse ban

Social media giant Facebook’s Oversight Board has reversed a decision of the platform to remove a post that was critical of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) and Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The Oversight Board also said that it was wrong of Facebook to not have given the user who shared the post, a chance to appeal against the original decision.

What was the post banned by Facebook?

According to the details shared by the Oversight Board, in November last year, a user in Punjab shared a 17-minute video clip that was originally uploaded by a Punjabi media channel called Global Punjab TV. The video clip showed an interview with a professor.
