Poco will not launch its 5G phone anytime soon in India

NEW DELHI: Handset maker Poco, which was recently spun off from parent Xioami as a separate entity, will not immediately start developing a 5G smartphone for the Indian market due to unavailability of the network and high cost attached with 5G chipsets.

Poco India General Manager, C Manmohan said that 5G compatibility increases the cost of a smartphone by Rs 5,000-Rs 7,000 and with no ecosystem availability in India it makes no sense in the country to launch a 5G phone.
