PM-WANI: A step towards digitalising India and connecting citizens

India is seen as the second-largest digital market in the world and as per Digital in India – 2019 Report of IAMAI, it has over 504 million active internet users, which is only behind its neighbor, China.

Even with the steady surge in internet penetration over the years, even today the majority of the country’s population remains underserved with limited or no high-speed internet access.

While India has been a strong advocate of its digital agenda, the unprecedented COVID-19 pandemic has further accelerated its push, underscoring the need to make high-speed internet available across the nation to rebuild the economy rapidly and effectively, through a digital transformation.
