PM Narendra Modi inaugurates Kochi-Lakshadweep submarine optical fiber connection

NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday inaugurated the Kochi-Lakshadweep Islands Submarine Optical Fiber Connection (KLI-SOFC) which will increase the internet speed by over 100 times, from 1.7Gbps to 200Gbps. The project, initially announced in August 2020, has been completed.

“For the first time since independence, Lakshadweep will be connected through Submarine Optic Fibre Cable,” the Prime Minister’s Office said in an official statement.
