People across the world spent $138 million on YouTube
YouTube is clearly far one of the most popular apps in the world and when it comes to consumption of video content, it is perhaps the go to app for many a people. So it comes as no surprise that the app from Google is the highest grossing video app in the world. According to a report by Sensor Tower, YouTube is the top grossing photo and video app in Q2 2019. YouTube generated revenue of $138 billion, as per Sensor Tower and majority of this came from the US.
More than 70% of this revenue came from US, according to a report by The Next Web. The next two big markets for YouTube were Japan and UK contributing 7% and 4% respectively. Compared to last year, this is a 220% growth for YouTube.
YouTube, apart from being the top grossing app in the world, was also top of the charts in App Store apps. Interestingly, when it came to revenue from Google Play, YouTube doesn’t even feature in the top 10 list of apps.
