Pent up demand driving smartphone sector recovery in June
New Delhi: The pent-up demand for smartphones in June has caused a rise in sales with most states like Maharashtra, Punjab and Delhi recovering faster than expected.
Smartphone sales have increased 10-25% in June as compared to March in most Northern states, whereas South India is almost catching up to 100% revival, according to large distributors and retailers ET spoke to.
“Southern states started opening up 10 days late in June due to continuing infections, but since then, our daily sales have seen a rise of 12% as compared to pre-Covid,” said Chandu Reddy, director of Sangeetha Mobiles, South India’s largest handset retail chain.
