Paytm pulls up telcos, Trai for failing to curb phishing, says its users still being duped
New Delhi: Digital payments company Paytm has criticised telecom companies and the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (Trai) for failing to curb the menace of spam/fraud SMSes from unregistered telemarketers despite a new regulation meant to curb them.
In a composite rejoinder filed in the Delhi High Court, Paytm said Vodafone Idea, Bharti Airtel, Reliance Jio and Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd. (BSNL) have failed to meet the verification obligation under the TCCCPR (Telecom Commercial Communications Customer Preference Regulations), leading to the digital payment company’s customers being duped. The Paytm filing is part of the ongoing lawsuit between its parent One97 Communications against telcos.
