Paytm CEO Vijay Shekhar Sharma: I or anyone from One97 Communications have no connection with Paytm Payments Bank

Vijay Shekhar Sharma, CEO of One97 Communications (parent company of Paytm), addressed concerns about regulatory issues faced by Paytm Payments Bank. In a recent webinar, Sharma emphasized the independence and capability of the bank’s board to handle the situation. “I, personally or anyone from OCL, have no connection with the payments bank,” Vijay Shekhar Sharma said at a webinar.

“We have full faith in the independent board overseeing Paytm Payments Bank,” Sharma stated, distancing himself and One97 Communications from the bank’s operations.

This comes after the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) imposed restrictions on the payments bank in January 2024.
