Patchy line: Goa Broadband Network faces external audit

Panaji: With questions being asked about the functioning of Goa Broadband Network (GBBN), the department of information technology, electronics and communications (DITEC) has decided to audit the entire project, including connectivity at schools, colleges, and government corporations.

A third-party audit agency will monitor and assess 1,605 locations which are connected to GBBN to determine if the terms of the project are being met. GBBN is being implemented by United Telecoms Limited (UTL) but government departments often com-plain that internet connectivity is affected due to poor maintenance.
