OTT platform stops live-streaming of TV channels, sports enthusiasts miffed

Kolkata: Live-streaming of TV channels was discontinued on one of the major OTT platforms from midnight on Wednesday, much to the disappointment of sports buffs and those who prefer to watch TV on the move. SonyLIV, the OTT arm of Sony TV, that had all its entertainment, infotainment and sports channels on the platform, announced last month that it will withdraw ‘live TV’ from the platform, leading to fears about other channels like Star TV, Zee and Colors following suit.

So far, SonyLIV offered live telecasts of various Sony channels, including Sony TV, BBC Earth, SAB TV, Sony Marathi, and Sony Max along with sports channels operated by Sony Entertainment Television (India).
