Oracle lays off 100 in India as part of its restructuring

Oracle is learnt to have laid off nearly 100 employees in India, part of a global restructuring effort underway to gear up its cloud offerings.

The changes come after two of its top executives – Thomas Kurian and Amit Zavery — quit to join Google. Oracle’s fresh round of layoffs appears to be more than an annual redundancy exercise that lets go off under-performers.

Sources told TOI that software developers, quality assurance and documentation professionals were impacted by the layoffs. “Some employees were asked to come for the meeting with their laptops, an indication that they would be asked to surrender their laptop and sign off,” said a source on condition of anonymity.
