Oppo’s not ‘impressed’ with foldable smartphones, here’s why

At a time when the biggest smartphone makers — such as Samsung and Huawei — are placing their bets on the foldable smartphones, Chinese smartphone maker Oppo is still skeptical about the “next chapter in mobile innovation.”
Oppo VP Brian Shen posted on Chinese microblogging website Weibo four images of a prototype of its foldable smartphone that looks more identical to Huawei’s Mate X than the Samsung Galaxy Fold. However, along with the pictures, Shen also revealed that the company has no intentions of going into mass production unless it knows “enough people” want it. According to Shen, the folded screen “does not bring about a huge improvement in user experience.”
