Oppo, IEEE to collaborate on 5G, AI standards

NEW DELHI: Chinese smartphone maker Oppo Friday said it has entered into a strategic partnership with the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) with an aim to standardize fields such as 5G, AI, and big data.

The IEEE has several achievements under its belt. For starters, the standards committees under the IEEE is the author of some crucial technical standards around the world, such as the IEEE 802.11 series standard for wireless networks.

“Oppo will participate in the work of several IEEE standards committees to contribute to the formulation of international technical standards,” Oppo said in a release.
