Operators to move tribunal if DoT seeks higher dues

New Delhi: Mobile phone operators are prepared to move the telecom tribunal if the department of telecom (DoT) demands higher adjusted gross revenue (AGR) dues than their self-assessed amounts, said industry executives. They said operators are finding huge discrepancies in the way DoT has calculated AGR dues, resulting in the government’s estimates being far higher than their own assessments.

“There are several incorrect additions to the AGR that have resulted in inflated LF (licence fee) demands,” said an executive at one of the three telcos that has been among the worst affected by the Supreme Court’s October 24 order widening the definition of adjusted gross revenue to include non-core items.
