OpenAI CTO’s Twitter account posts phishing link after getting hacked
The Twitter account of the chief technology officer (CTO) of artificial intelligence (AI) research startup OpenAI Mira Murati has reportedly been hacked. The crypto community on the Elon Musk-led microblogging site was flooded with warnings from users as Murati’s account started promoting a “scam” cryptocurrency airdrop, after being hacked. The account tweeted what appeared to be a phishing link promising an airdrop on June 2. The link seemed to promote the ERC-20 token OpenAI, which is named after the Microsoft-backed firm that created the generative AI chatbot ChatGPT.
Murati’s verified Twitter account has more than 1.2 lakh followers on the platform. According to a report by Cointelegraph, the post promoting the link was live for an hour before it was deleted.
