Online liquor fraud: Techie duped of Rs 80K

An IT professional residing at Chandrasekharpur here has been duped of about Rs 80,000 after ordering liquor online through Facebook.

The youth had come across an advertisement on Facebook that claimed to receive online orders for home delivery of liquor from a shop named ‘Kadambari’. When he contacted on the number shared in the post, the receiver shared a PhonePe number and asked him to make the payment amounting to Rs 980.

When he did not receive the order, he called on that number again. The receiver sent a barcode asking him to scan it. When he scanned the code four times on PhonePe, a sum of Rs 79,181 was debited from his SBI and Standard Charted Bank accounts,” alleged the victim.
