OneWeb, AT&T ink deal to improve connectivity in remote locations of US
NEW DELHI: Bharti-backed low-earth orbit (LEO) satellite communications (satcom) company OneWeb and AT&T have joined hands to improve connectivity access for the US-based telco’s enterprise, small and medium-sized business (SMBs), and government customers residing in remote locations in the country while also enhancing connectivity for hard-to-reach cell towers.
AT&T’s business fiber network provides high-speed connections to over 2.5 million US business customer locations. This new deal will help AT&T leverage OneWeb’s satellite network to provide high-speed, low-latency broadband to businesses, according to an official statement.
OneWeb in June 2021 had signed a similar deal with UK’s BT to explore the opportunities of delivering digital communication services to remote areas of the UK.
