OnePlus India engineers help to improve OS, camera, 5G

When OnePlus founder & CEO Pete Lau flew down to Hyderabad in August last year to formally unveil what is slated to be the Chinese smartphone maker’s largest R&D centre globally, he couldn’t stop raving about the incredible talent at the centre, and its growth potential.
Lau went on to announce an investment of Rs 1,000 crore in the centre over a three-year horizon. “In three years, we plan to grow the centre into our biggest facility globally as we expand beyond smartphones. We plan to re-focus our R&D efforts on a large scale and drive innovations in India for the global product, especially on the software side, with special emphasis on AI, 5G and IoT,” Lau said.
Today, the OnePlus team of over 300 engineers at Hyderabad, led by Ramagopala Reddy, is seen to have more than lived up to Lau’s expectations.
