OnePlus ex-exec to Poco: ‘Don’t copy’ tagline

NEW DELHI: Chinese smartphone rivals Realme and Xiaomi are known to throw barbs at each other on Twitter for quite some time. With Poco (Xiaomi’s independent brand) gearing up to launch its new phone on February 4, the brand took to Twitter to share the launch details of Poco X2 smartphone. Poco India general manager C Manmohan shared his excitement about the new launch in a tweet, which along with announcing the launch date of the phone (February 4), said, ”We’re here to redefine the value of X. Get ready to Xperience something that is #SmoothAF.”
Soon after Manmohan’s tweet, there was an unexpected tweet from the OnePlus’ former product manager Szymon Kopeć. In the tweet, Kopec claimed Poco is copying the OnePlus’ tagline and said “imitation is the sincerest form of flattery”. Kopeć went further and tweeted, “…can’t imagine any customer winning on some company being uncreative in terms of taglines. It doesn’t really matter, just feel sad for OnePlus employees, cos I know how much efforts their marketing team is putting into details like that [SIC].”
