Not taken a decision yet on involving Chinese players in 5G trials: Telecom secretary

NEW DELHI: Telecom secretary Aruna Sundararajan on Wednesday said that the government is yet to take a decision on whether to allow Chinese gear makers to take part in 5G trials, saying the government would examine all security-related issues on the back of apprehensions raised by various countries.

“We have not taken a decision on whether they (Chinese companies) can take part in 5G trials,” Sundararajan told reporters on Wednesday, adding that, “several countries have expressed security concerns from Chinese players, and we will study those issues.”

She was speaking on the sidelines of the launch of India’s first locally developed chips for 4G/LTE and 5G modems by Signalchip.
