Not considering floor price for mobile phone services, says Trai

The telecom regulator is not considering fixing a floor for mobile phone tariffs, and would continue to keep pricing under forbearance, a senior official said, dealing another blow to Vodafone Idea’s repeated push to get the authorities to set a minimum rate for mobile phone services.

On Tuesday, industry lobby group Cellular Operators Association of India (COAI) however once again pressed on the need for a floor price for data services for an interim period of two years to help the industry recover financially.
