Nokia, Vivo sign multi-year 5G patent deal

NEW DELHI: Finnish telecom gear maker Nokia on Monday signed a multi-year 5G patent cross-license agreement with Chinese smartphone maker Vivo, thereby ending all pending patent litigation between the two companies in all jurisdictions.

Under the agreement Vivo will make royalty payments to Nokia, along with catch-up payments to cover the dispute period, said Nokia in a statement. The terms of the agreement remain confidential as agreed between the parties.

This is Nokia’s sixth major smartphone patent license agreement in the past thirteen months, following deals with Apple, Samsung, Oppo, Honor and Huawei.
