Nokia to deploy 5G core network products for China Unicom
NEW DELHI: Chinese telecom operator China Unicom on Monday said it has joined hands with telecom gear maker Nokia to support the buildout of its 5G standalone (SA) core network in China.
Under the deal, Nokia has been awarded an approximately 10 percent of China Unicom’s 5G core network.
The core network serves a variety of functions, including setting up connections, bandwidth management, scaling and securing the network, and, now with 5G, opening up the network to support software-enabled use cases, such as network slicing.
