Nokia conducts successful RIC trial over AT&T’s commercial 5G network
NEW DELHI: Finnish telecom gear maker Nokia on Friday said it has successfully conducted a limited trial of the RAN Intelligent Controller (RIC) over AT&T’s commercial 5G mmWave network in New York City.
Once RIC is fully implemented into the network, it will enable increased network optimization through policy-guided, closed-loop automation.
The two companies had announced their collaboration last year to co-develop the RIC software, in-line with O-RAN Alliance’s goals to accelerate the creation of open-source software for 5G RAN.
