Nod to over 20 portable cell towers in PCB areas

PUNE: Southern Army Commander Lt Gen SK Saini has sanctioned over 20 cell-onwheels (COW) mobile cellular sites to improve mobile network in military areas under the Pune Cantonment Board (PCB)’s jurisdiction.

The towers will be set up on A-1 defence land and will be managed by the defence estates office (DEO) of Pune zone.

Currently, local residents and serving army officers face issues arising from poor mobile network in the military area. “Once installed, the new mobile towers will address a long-pending issue,” a senior army officer told TOI.
