No 4G in J&K for now: Government
Despite growing public demands for restoration of 3G/4G internet in Jammu and Kashmir at a time when people are grappling with Covid19, the Home Department has decided to continue with low speed 2G services in Jammu and Kashmir.
High speed mobile internet is banned in Jammu and Kashmir since August 5, 2019.
In an order, Principal Secretary Home Department Shaleen Kabra said that the mobile internet speed will remain restricted to 2G in Jammu and Kashmir till April 3 when a new review will be taken.
As per the order, the post-paid sim card holders shall be provided with access to the 2G internet. However, such access shall not be made available on pre-paid sim card unless verified as per the norms applicable for post-paid connections. For fixed line internet, connectivity will be subject to mac-binding.
