NMC warns mobile, tower cos of action

Nagpur: NMC has given an ultimatum to telecom and mobile tower companies across the corporation limits to clear their outstanding property tax to the tune of Rs 53 crore or face action.

“If dues are not cleared within a month, the civic body will take strict action,” municipal commissioner Abhijeet Chaudhari said. He also warned of approaching the high court against the cellular companies as tax evasion is contempt of an earlier order issued by the court.

There are around 1,059 mobile towers across the city, and most are not paying property tax to the civic body, said sources.
