Nine million patient records stolen in the US medical firm hack

Earlier this year, a cyberattack targeted a US medical transcription service, resulting in the theft of almost nine million patients’ highly sensitive personal and health information.

PJ&A recently filed a legal report with the US Department of Health and Human Services, stating that over 8.95 million individuals have been affected by the data breach that started in March 2023. The firm began notifying the affected patients six months later, on October 31.

Based on the disclosure made by PJ&A regarding the data breach, the stolen data consisted of patient names, dates of birth, addresses, medical records, hospital account numbers, admission diagnoses, and dates and times of service.
