New PlayStation 5 Pro leak hints at 45 per cent performance increase
In the last few months, several sources have suggested that Sony is working on a refreshed version of the PlayStation 5. Dubbed the ‘PlayStation 5 Pro’, the upcoming console internally named “Project Trinity” is said to pack a punch and will be available sometime in the last quarter of the year.
Now, a new report by Digital Foundry suggests that the PlayStation 5 Pro will have a GPU with a base clock speed of 2.18GHz and boosted speeds of up to 2.35GHz along with some restructured cache components.
While the 4GB L2 cache may be the same, Sony is considering doubling the L1 cache from 128KB to 256KB, enabling the PlayStation 5 Pro to “accomodate the larger numbers of compute units per shader engine”.
