Netflix’s plans to stop users from sharing passwords has worked

Earlier this year, Netflix revealed its plans to crack down on password sharing. A lot of Netflix users created one account and shared the passwords with their friends/family. This clearly hurt Netflix’s number of subscribers as well as put a dent in the company’s revenues. Netflix’s password sharing crackdown seems to have paid off, as revealed in the company’s quarterly results. “Revenue in each region is now higher than pre-launch, with sign-ups already exceeding cancellations,” said the company referring to the countries where paid sharing feature was launched. Netflix said that paid net additions were 5.9 million in the second quarter.
