Netflix has a “final surprise” for its DVD subscribers

An era ends, as Netflix is officially winding down its DVD rental business in the coming weeks, and it has one last surprise for its subscribers.

Netflix, which began as a DVD rental company, will be ending its original service on September 29, after a 25-year run. The final discs from DVD.com will be shipped on September 29th, and as a parting gift, there are a few more red envelopes on your way, about 10 of them, if you are lucky.

In a promotional email to subscribers, Netflix said it is sending out extra discs on September 29th. If the subscriber wants to have them, they must opt in by clicking the link in the email before August 29th.
