Most Hyderabadis sleep deprived, thanks to social media
HYDERABAD: Even after a hard day’s work, a majority of the city’s population stays up late in the night. This unwelcome trend is largely due to more and more people getting hooked onto social media. Doctors say that excessive use of smartphones, tabs and other electronic gadgets late into the night is causing sleep deprivation and leading to acute insomnia in several people in the city.
A survey conducted with inputs from city doctors for World Sleep Day reveals that most Hyderabadis suffering from sleep disorders are aged between 20 and 35 years. Some of them are even taking sleeping pills and this may lead to several health issues, warn doctors.
